TRAINEE SUPPORT ENGINEER
The role:
This entry level position is an excellent opportunity to develop skills in the lighting control, smart home and AV industry. This role will be part of the support department - a key focus of Rako is supporting dealers and installers of all types to ensure successful completion of projects and delivering high quality, user friendly systems.
The successful candidate will be part of a team which assists customers at all stages of the project and subsequent life cycle of Rako systems. During the training process you will;
- Develop technical expertise regarding Rako products, systems and services.
- Learn to troubleshoot and diagnose installer, programmer and user issues related to Rako products and systems.
- Gain experience of related systems and protocols - DALI, DMX, IP, integration partners etc.
- Develop the communication and negotiation skills needed to work with all parties involved in projects and understand their varying requirements.
What you will need to have:
While candidates do not require direct experience, a strong interest in technology particularly smart home, AV, electronics, computing or networking would be beneficial. This trainee role is suited to those eager to learn and develop a technical foundation at the start of their career in this industry.
Academic qualifications:
- Passes in GCSE English, Maths and Science
Relevant professional experience:
- Any experience in a related industry (Lighting, AV)
- Site work experience
- Customer service/support experience
A basic level of competence with computers will be expected as well as a good standard of written English.

Practical Information:
- Training on the product, system, software and related lighting control concepts will be provided.
- The role is based at our Rochester HQ with site visits (when trained and if applicable) predominantly occurring in London and the South East.
- On occasion further travel may be required, with occasional overnight stays a possibility.
- Where they are incurred, travel and overnight expenses will be fully covered.
- Full UK Driving Licence desirable but not essential.
Salary and benefits will be discussed upon application and will be dependent on experience.
