Project Background

Located around the globe, COYA is a place where guests can savour a range of authentic Peruvian food in a luxurious and inviting setting. Brought together with a carefully curated lighting design by Lighting Design Studio and mood lighting controls by Rako, a warm, ambient, energy efficient lighting scheme highlights the Peruvian features, rich textures and exquisite food in the best possible light.

COYA celebrates the spirit of Latin America and has led the way in innovative dining experiences. Lighting Design Studio created bespoke lighting designs in each of the restaurants with Rako’s lighting controls specified to complement their designs, creating a welcoming and relaxing environment that keeps guests coming back for more.

Barcelona

Considerations

When it comes to restaurant lighting, there are many factors to take into consideration, from the transition from day to night to carefully lit tables and dining areas that enhance the customer experience.  Lighting control and automation is also important in hospitality settings to ensure staff are not preoccupied with manually adjusting light levels to achieve the perfect ambience.  At COYA, Rako’s Hub units have been installed to take care of pre-programmed lighting scenes that fade up or down gradually over time, providing smooth lighting transitions that are unobtrusive for guests.  The Hub also allows for the Rako app to be used, enabling staff to override lighting scenes if necessary, or to adjust for specific events.

It was decided that a Rako wired system would be an ideal fit for the restaurant's lighting control system, since each of the projects were completely new refurbishments. The majority of fittings specified at the COYA restaurants are mains and 1-10v, to ensure smooth, flicker free dimming between lighting scenes. Rako’s satin stainless keypads were selected to complement the sumptuous interiors and the Hub allows for pre-programmable scenes, events and app control.
